We go way back, way back down

Down the same old sidewalk on the other side of town

Across every highway and into every stream

One step at one time is all we ever dream

And we go dancing with our memories

Pretty pictures of where we've been

We don't hold on to tomorrow

Like we used to, way back when

We go gently, we go bold

Every intention of doing what we're told

Follow all instructions within the line of sight

Then our self destruction stirs up the same old fight

And we go dancing, with our memories

Pretty pictures of where we've been

We don't hold on to tomorrow

Like we used to, way back when

We don't need a handout, giving us away

We don't ask for help on any ordinary day

And we don't remember what we have become

Just another ordinary day has begun

We need substance and we need proof

We don't believe that anything will give us back our youth

We are set in stone although it changes on the way

We don't ask for much on any ordinary day

And we go dancing with our memories

Pretty pictures of where we've been

We don't hold on to tomorrow

Like we used to, way back when
